A new school year has begun at YBS in September!!
Our classrooms and learning spaces are once again filled with children’s smiles, laughter, and the excitement of discovering something new.
Words spoken in both English and Japanese.
Activities that capture their attention.
Laughter shared with friends.
And every now and then, we hear:
“What is this?”
“Why does this happen?”
“I want to try!”
Inside these simple words are some of the most important beginnings of learning: a child’s natural desire to know, explore, and discover.

Whether they are completely absorbed in something new, trying something for the first time, or stopping to rethink when things don’t go as planned, we believe that each of these moments is a small but meaningful step toward their future.
At YBS, learning is about more than gaining knowledge.
It is about running.
Creating.
Singing.
Reading.
Discovering new words.
Exploring the wonders of science.
Thinking, laughing, and taking on challenges together.
Learning does not only happen at a desk.
It happens when something sparks a child’s interest.
When they think, “I want to try.”
When they become completely absorbed in something.
When they share an idea with someone else.
These everyday moments gradually expand children’s world and help them grow—not only as learners, but as people.
Two Languages. A Wider World.

At YBS, both Japanese and English are an important part of our school environment.
Language is more than a way to communicate what we think and feel.
It is also a way to meet new people, discover different cultures, encounter new ways of thinking, and expand our understanding of the world.
Through experiencing two languages every day, children gradually discover that there can be different ways of seeing, thinking, and understanding the same world.
A different language.
A different culture.
A different perspective.
Each new encounter opens another door.
And beyond those doors are countless possibilities that children have yet to discover.
Our bilingual environment is one of the ways YBS supports children as they connect with the world and continue to expand their own.
Open a Book. Open a World.

In 2026–2027, we will place a special focus on learning through books and science.
At first glance, they may seem like two very different areas of learning.
But at their heart, they share something important:
the desire to know more.
That simple feeling of
“I want to know.”
is where so much meaningful learning begins.
Open a book.
And suddenly, a door opens to a world you have never seen before.
A person you have never met.
A place you have never visited.
A culture you have never known.
A story you never imagined.
A single book can take a child somewhere far beyond their everyday world.
They imagine how someone in a story might feel.
They wonder, “What would I do?”
They discover a new word.
They become curious about what will happen on the next page.
These small moments gradually nurture the ability to imagine, think, understand others, and—most importantly—to want to know more.
Reading is not simply about learning how to read.
It is an invitation to discover the world, enrich the heart, and enjoy the journey of learning.
Science Begins with “Why?”

Science often begins with a single question.
“Why does this happen?”
“What do you think will happen if we try this?”
“What if we try it another way?”
At YBS, Science is not only about learning the right answers.
It is about looking, touching, trying, questioning, and thinking.
First, we observe.
Then we make a prediction.
We try it ourselves.
It does not always work the way we expected.
So we ask:
“Why?”
We think again.
And sometimes, we discover something we never expected.
Through this process, children gradually learn to enjoy not only finding answers, but also the process of thinking itself.
Something that does not work can lead to a new discovery.
One question can lead to a completely new idea.
Sometimes, not knowing is what makes learning exciting.
We want children to experience that feeling again and again.
Beyond the Answer

Nowadays, AI can now find information and provide answers in an instant.
In such a future, we believe that knowing the answer will not be enough.
What matters is also being able to:
Ask your own questions.
Pause and wonder, “Why?”
Try something for yourself.
Think again when something does not work.
And ultimately,
turn an idea or a dream into something you can create and make happen.
At the heart of all of this is curiosity.
Being interested in the world.
Looking with your own eyes.
Touching and experiencing something for yourself.
Talking with others.
Trying something new.
From these experiences, children begin to imagine possibilities that did not exist in their minds before.
That is why YBS places such value on Real Experiences—opportunities to see, touch, try, think, question, and discover for themselves.
2026–2027 Let’s Spark Curiosity!

This year at YBS, we will continue to nurture every child’s
“I want to try.”
“I want to know.”
“Why?”
We will encourage them to move.
To create.
To share.
To imagine.
To question.
And to discover answers of their own.
May today’s small “Why?” become tomorrow’s “I want to try.”
May today’s small discovery grow into a new possibility for the future.
And may every experience along the way help children develop the confidence and courage to imagine and shape a future that is uniquely their own.
We cannot wait to see what worlds their curiosity will lead them to discover this year.
And we look forward to being there, sharing the journey and celebrating every step along the way.
2026–2027.
Let’s Spark Curiosity!
Real Experiences. Endless Possibilities.
